Intel has announced the acquisition of Texas Instruments' cable modem product line.

Intel will combine the Texas Instruments Puma* product lines with Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) technology and Intel® system-on-chip media processors to deliver advanced products for the cable industry.

“This acquisition specifically strengthens Intel’s product offerings for the continuum of cable gateway products and reinforces Intel’s continued commitment to the cable industry,” said Bob Ferreira, general manager, Cable Segment, Intel® Digital Home Group.
